Hospitality

Hello HAWS Neighbors!

Several months ago, we (Sherry Brumley and Courtney Perot) approached Saundra Thompson with the
idea of coordinating some hospitality type services for our neighborhood. Saundra presented our
ideas to the board and they approved them. Beth Wilson also jumped in to help, and now the three
of us would like to share our vision with you.

In order to show kindness to our neighbors while keeping individual contributions minimal, here is
what we have in mind…

What we ask of you…
Whenever a need/occasion arises, we will send out an email through the neighborhood website.
There will likely be a Sign-Up Genius link where you will be able to see the event/occasion details and
the types of items/help needed. You will then choose if and how you’d like to contribute.

We will also need neighbors’ help knowing what is going on. Sometimes people are ill, bringing
home a new baby, etc., and we may or may not know about it. Please email us so that we make
sure we don’t miss anyone. Our committee email address is [email protected].

If you provide a product or service and would like your contact information or marketing materials
included in welcome baskets, please contact us.

Things we’d like to do…
WELCOME BASKETS – We would like to provide welcome baskets to new neighbors. We will include
marketing materials from local businesses and restaurants, as well as any information regarding
services provided by HOWS residents you’d like to contribute. We will send out a sign up so we can
also include a few personal items… cookies, dish towels, restaurant gift cards, etc.

NEW BABY BASKETS/MEALS – New parents have their hands full. We’d like to set up a meal train
and provide baskets that include restaurant gift cards, baby items, self-care items for the new
parents, etc.

ILLNESS ASSISTANCE – When our neighbors are ill, we would like to set up meal trains as well as
help with things like yard work, cleaning, etc.

What we hope…
We’ve seen how this neighborhood pulls together in times of need. We hope to foster new
friendships and provide opportunities to help others while facilitating a sense of kindness and
belonging among neighbors.

Thanks so much!
Sherry, Beth, and Courtney
